What do you have in your hand?
Most of us are dreamers. I know most of us really have big dreams and we've set and planned how to accomplish each step of them. Good.
So during this period, I've been doing a personal life preview to check what parts of my visions I've accomplished so far. I was shocked to realize that I'd done so little, despite all the efforts and strategies I'd put in place. I realized a lots of failed attempts than successes. Lots of unfinished projects, lots of untouched projects and the list is endless. This was at the beginning of April.
Going through my records, I had to find a solution to this catastrophe, or should we call it a dilemma! So I decided to carry out problem analysis. Dedicated some days to prayers and fasting as I studied more about myself. Then this verse came into the atmosphere:
[Exodus 4:2]
So the LORD said to him,
"What [is] that in your hand?"*
He said, "A rod."
Meditating on this word; the Lord would have chosen to use any other method to show signs and wonders to Pharaoh, but He opted to use just what Moses had in his hands. A rod.
So I put myself in Moses's shoes, I realized I'd have seriously over-thought the situation and would have probably asked for God to bring down the skies so as to prove to Pharaoh that He is God.
Back to my situation, I realized I was overambitious at times. I was fixed to things happening in a certain way, and if they didn't happen that way, then I'd rather pause, or even cancel the whole idea than continue. I was fixed to using certain things, certain people, certain conditions, just certain specific measures. I wasn't flexible enough to use what I had in my hands.
After realizing my mistake, I asked God to show me the way. After all, I'm just but a man, that He's put a little lower than the Angels and given dominion.
I realized I had quite a lot in my hands. I had too much in my hands that the Lord could and was very much willing to use for His own glory. I had so much in my hands that the Lord could use to show the World that He is indeed the God of all creation, the giver and lifter of men. I had a lot in my hands that the Lord would use to prove that He is a caring and loving God. I had just not been keen to listen to what He had been saying.
So I resorted to using every tool I had in my hands, every idea, every person, every place, absolutely everything I had in my hand first before I could overact on any part of my vision.
Now, even as we celebrate this music success [NI WEWE] (Mark you, the last time I ever released I music video was way back in 2014], let's have it in mind that everything used for the song is just as simple as they may look. No huge cameras used, not recorded in a big studio, actually it's recorded in a friends simple home setup that I'd never thought I'd go to because of where I'd placed myself. (God humbles).
The video is done by a simple Canon 200D camera that we borrowed from a friend's church. No special video director hired, I just used the "Lower-fields" idea to bring the video up. (Only those from Egerton CU can understand that )It's where we go for communal CU prayers in our institution mostly in the evening. Every person then expresses their prayers to God individually, mostly near some trees, (I certainly had my favorite tree for prayers at lower fields)
I've realized, life is not as hard as we make or see it to be. I've realized life is what you take it to be. And it's a garbage-in-garbage-out system. You give life what you don't have in your hands, it gives you no results and you end up frustrated.
Let's all learn to appreciate the fact that life is a ladder and every step is important. If you try skipping steps you'll most probably trip and fall. Always pray to God for eye openers. Sometimes we can plan as men, but God has a way much different and even a better plan for us. Seek to always do His will and let patience have it's way.
I'll finish with my favorite Bible quote:
[James 1:2-4 ]
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have [its] perfect work, that you may be PERFECT and COMPLETE, LACKING NOTHING.
I hope you are all blessed by the testimony.
Glory be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who leadeth us into triumph, forever and ever;
Amen.
